• Attend the Feast of Saint Alfio in Trecastagni on 10 May, featuring a procession of three brother saints carried through crowded streets
• Join the Pistacchio Festival in Bronte during the first week of October, where you can taste pistachio pesto, gelato, and granita made from local nuts
• Watch the 'Cavalcata di Sant'Alfio' in Adrano, a horse parade with riders in traditional Sicilian costume that lasts about three hours
• Sample Etna DOC wines and roasted chestnuts at the Autumn Grape and Chestnut Fair in Linguaglossa, held over two weekends in late October
• See the 'Luminaria' on the eve of Saint Agatha in Catania, when thousands of candles line the streets leading to the cathedral, a spectacle that runs from dusk to midnight
• Suitable for families and cultural travellers, most events are free to attend, though some include paid tastings or reserved seating for processions
