About this experience

Festivals in Agrigento is a year-round programme of cultural celebrations held across the city’s historic piazzas and temples, including the Almond Blossom Festival and the Feast of San Calogero. These events showcase Sicilian traditions through processions, folk music, and local gastronomy, set against the backdrop of the Valley of the Temples. Visitors attend religious rites, concerts, and street performances that reflect the city’s Greek, Roman, and Baroque heritage.

What to expect

The Almond Blossom Festival in February features a costumed parade, folk dancing, and a fireworks display in the Valley of the Temples, lasting about three hours.
The Feast of San Calogero in July includes a 12-hour procession carrying a silver statue through the old town, followed by a street market with local cheeses and almond pastries.
During the Greek Theatre performances in June, you watch ancient dramas staged in the 5th-century BC theatre, with seating on stone tiers and a view of the sea.
The Christmas Eve living nativity scene in the historic centre involves 200 local actors, live animals, and traditional Sicilian crafts, open from 5 PM to 10 PM.
Each festival includes a food stall area where vendors sell arancini, cannoli, and grilled sardines, with prices starting at €3 per item.
The events suit families and culture travellers, as most processions are free to watch, though some theatre shows require tickets purchased at the venue box office.
