Coffee Shops in Salina is a guided tasting tour of the island's traditional cafés, located in the Aeolian archipelago off Sicily's north coast. The activity introduces visitors to local espresso culture, including granita, cannoli, and the island's famed Malvasia wine. It operates in the main towns of Santa Marina, Malfa, and Rinella, with each stop offering a distinct view of the Tyrrhenian Sea.
What to expect
- A 2.5-hour walking route covers three family-run cafés, with a short break between stops for photos and rest
- Each tasting includes a single-origin Sicilian espresso, a seasonal granita (lemon or almond), and one pastry such as a pistachio cannolo
- At the final café, a 30-millilitre glass of Malvasia delle Lipari is poured, paired with a local almond biscuit
- The tour starts at 10:00 from the Salina ferry terminal, with a maximum group size of eight people
- Suitable for coffee enthusiasts and slow travellers, but not for those with mobility issues due to steep cobbled streets
- A printed map of the three cafés is provided, so you can revisit any stop independently after the tour
