About this experience

Coffee Shops in Modica is a guided tasting tour of the city's historic cafés, located in the Baroque centre of Modica, Sicily. The tour focuses on the local coffee culture, including the traditional chocolate-based drinks for which Modica is known. Visitors walk between three family-run establishments, sampling distinct brews and pastries along the way.

What to expect

A 2-hour walking tour that starts at Piazza Municipio and ends at the Caffè dell'Arte, covering roughly 1.5 kilometres of flat, paved streets.
Includes three coffee tastings: an espresso, a caffè d'orzo, and a hot chocolate made with Modica's stone-ground chocolate, plus a small almond pastry at each stop.
You will see the interior of historic cafés dating from the 19th century, including original marble counters and brass coffee machines still in daily use.
The guide explains the difference between Modican chocolate and standard chocolate, and how it is blended into coffee drinks.
Suits adult travellers interested in food history, and the tour runs in English and Italian, with a maximum group size of 8 people.
