About this experience

Perhentian Kecil's hotels and resorts line the island's eastern bays, offering beachfront stays between jungle and coral sea. Accommodations range from basic chalets to dive-focused resorts, with most facing the turquoise water of Long Beach or Coral Bay. This is the backpacker and diver hub of the Perhentian Islands, where nightlife and snorkelling trips start directly from the sand.

What to expect

Choose from beachfront bungalows on Long Beach for party access or quieter garden rooms at Coral Bay for early-morning snorkelling.
Most resorts include a daily breakfast of eggs, toast, and fruit, served on a terrace overlooking the water.
Dive packages bundle accommodation with 2-3 guided dives per day, including tanks, weights, and boat transfers to sites like Sugar Wreck or Tiga Ruang.
Expect basic amenities: fan-cooled rooms, cold-water showers, and limited electricity hours (typically 6pm-6am) on budget properties.
Snorkelling gear is often free for guests, with house reefs 10-20 metres from the beach, where you can see blacktip reef sharks and clownfish.
Suitable for backpackers and budget travellers; families with young children may prefer the calmer, shallower waters of D'Lagoon on the west coast.
