Surf Lessons in Vlychos is a structured surfing programme on the pebble beach of Vlychos bay, on the south coast of Hydra island. The lessons run from May to October, using the consistent summer meltemi winds that create small, rolling waves suitable for beginners. Each session is led by a certified instructor who provides all necessary equipment, including board, wetsuit, and leash.
What to expect
- Two-hour group or private sessions, with a maximum of four students per instructor
- Includes a 20-minute land-based technique drill before entering the water
- Wetsuit, soft-top board, and reef shoes are provided for every participant
- Sessions start at 10:00 or 16:00, timed to match the daily wind pattern
- Suitable for first-time surfers aged 12 and above, with no swimming test required
- Photographs of your session are taken from the shore and available for purchase after the lesson
