Surf Lessons in Hydra Town is a guided surfing programme based on the waterfront of Hydra Town, Hydra. The lessons use the island's sheltered coves and consistent summer meltemi winds to teach board control and wave riding. Each session is tailored to the participant's current skill level, from first-time paddling to advanced manoeuvres.
What to expect
- Lessons run for 90 minutes per session, with wetsuit, soft-top board, and leash included in the fee
- Instruction covers beach entry, paddling technique, pop-up stance, and reading Hydra's wind-driven swell
- Sessions take place at Vlichos Bay, a 10-minute walk east of Hydra Town's harbour, where water depth stays under chest height
- Suitable for ages 12 and up, with a maximum of four students per instructor for individual feedback
- You will practise catching unbroken waves on a 9-foot foam board, which reduces impact and speeds up learning
- After the lesson, you receive a photo of your wave-riding sequence taken from the shore, sent to your email within 24 hours
