Coffee Shops in Pulau Seulako is a cafe circuit on the small island of Pulau Seulako, off the coast of Weh (Sabang) in Aceh. The island hosts three independent coffee houses serving locally grown Gayo arabica beans. Each shop operates from a wooden pavilion with sea views, and the circuit takes about two hours to complete on foot or by bicycle.
What to expect
- Two-hour self-guided walk or cycle between three coffee pavilions, each with a distinct brewing method: siphon, pour-over, and traditional Acehnese tubruk.
- Each shop serves a standard cup of Gayo arabica (120 ml) with a small plate of fried banana or roasted peanut, included in the 25,000 rupiah tasting pass.
- Visitors watch the barista roast beans in a drum roaster at the first pavilion, then grind and brew the same batch at the second and third stops.
- The circuit suits solo travellers and small groups who want a structured tasting without a guide; the path is flat and shaded by coconut palms.
- At the third pavilion, a viewing deck faces the open strait, where visitors can spot fishing boats returning to Sabang harbour between 15:00 and 17:00.
