Wine Tasting in Mabul Island is a guided tasting session held on the island's beachfront deck, offering a curated selection of international wines against the backdrop of the Celebes Sea. The activity pairs five pours with local seafood canapés, while a sommelier explains the origin and flavour profile of each bottle. It runs for 90 minutes and is open to guests aged 18 and over, with a non-alcoholic juice pairing available on request.
What to expect
- A 90-minute seated tasting of five wines, including a sparkling, two whites, and two reds, each served in a proper tasting glass
- Includes a platter of grilled prawns, marinated squid, and fresh tropical fruit to cleanse the palate between pours
- Guests receive a printed tasting card with tasting notes and a map of the wine regions represented
- The session takes place on a shaded wooden deck facing the water, with sunset sessions offered at 5:30 PM daily
- Suitable for both beginners and enthusiasts, as the sommelier explains basic wine vocabulary and food pairing logic
- Limited to 12 participants per session to allow individual questions and refills of the first pour
