What types of wine are produced in the Canary Islands?

The Canary Islands produce unique wines thanks to volcanic soil and traditional grape varieties. Lanzarote's La Geria region is famous for Malvasía wines grown in volcanic ash. Tenerife produces Listán Blanco and Negro wines. Red and white varieties from Tacoronte-Acentejo are also well-regarded.

What does a wine tasting experience include?

Wine tasting experiences typically include a guided tour of the vineyard and bodega, an explanation of the winemaking process, and a tasting of 3–6 wines paired with local cheeses and tapas. Many tastings are held in atmospheric volcanic bodegas.

About this experience

Wine Tasting in Modica is a guided tasting session in the heart of Sicily's Val di Noto, a UNESCO-listed Baroque town. Participants sample local Nero d'Avola and Cerasuolo di Vittoria wines paired with regional cheeses and olive oils. The activity takes place in a historic wine cellar or enoteca near Modica's cathedral.

What to expect

Includes a flight of Nero d'Avola, Frappato, and Cerasuolo di Vittoria, plus a dessert wine.
Each pour is paired with Modica chocolate, caciocavallo cheese, and olive oil bread.
