Wine Tasting in Marsala is a guided tasting session held in the historic cellars of Marsala, Sicily. Participants sample a range of local wines, including the renowned Marsala fortified wine, alongside regional cheeses and bread. The activity takes place in the town's ancient wine-producing district, where centuries-old barrels and stone vaults set the scene.
What to expect
- A 90-minute guided tasting of five wines, including two aged Marsala reserves, paired with local caciocavallo cheese and olive oil.
- Access to the 19th-century barrel cellar, where you see the solera system used for aging Marsala wine.
- A short walk through the adjacent vineyard, with commentary on the Grillo and Catarratto grape varieties grown on the estate.
- A tasting card with detailed notes on each wine's aroma, colour, and finish, to keep as a souvenir.
- Suitable for both beginners and wine enthusiasts, with a non-alcoholic grape juice option available on request.
- The session concludes with a complimentary glass of the house's flagship Marsala Superiore, served in the courtyard.
