Sicily's Mediterranean pattern brings hot, dry summers and milder, wetter winters, with June through September the busiest stretch for visitors. Italian island cooking leans on seafood, handmade pasta, olive oil and local wines, which shapes what a meal alongside drinks can look like. Flights, ferries and hydrofoils connect the island to the mainland, and Italian is the everyday language, so a few words go a long way when ordering.
