Visitors to Sicily will find a Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers and mild, wetter winters, and the peak season running from June to September. Meals on the island often centre on seafood, handmade pasta, olive oil and local wines, so dining out is part of the stay. Sicily can be reached by plane, by ferry or by hydrofoil from the Italian mainland, so arrival by air or sea is straightforward. Italian is the everyday language, so a few words help with routine exchanges. Trappeto's position on the north-western coast puts Palermo within reach for day trips.
