Italy's islands have a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and mild, wetter winters, so vehicle checks are worth scheduling before the summer heat arrives. Italian is the main language, with Sicilian and local dialects spoken alongside it. Festas for patron saints bring processions, band music and fireworks through the summer.
