Meals on the island tend to centre on seafood, handmade pasta, olive oil and local wines, and Italian is the everyday language spoken. Reaching Sicily from the Italian mainland is done by air, by ferry or by hydrofoil. From Villasmundo, the guest house sits within reach of towns such as Catania, Syracuse and Taormina for day trips.
