Supermarkets & Groceries in Pantaleria

About this experience

What to expect

• Expect to find two or three medium-sized supermarkets in the main town of Pantelleria, with smaller minimarkets in villages like Scauri and Rekhale.
• Shelves stock Sicilian pantry essentials: capers, olives, olive oil, dried pasta, and local wines like Zibibbo, alongside standard Italian grocery brands.
• Fresh bread, fruit, vegetables, and sometimes fish arrive daily, but quantities are limited; early morning visits secure the best selection.
• Opening hours typically run from 8:00 to 13:00 and 16:00 to 20:00, with closures on Sunday afternoons and some Wednesday afternoons in summer.
• Most shops accept cash and major credit cards, but smaller minimarkets may have a minimum spend for card payments.
• This guide suits self-catering travellers, boaters provisioning for a week, and anyone wanting to cook local ingredients at a holiday rental.
