About this experience

Surf Lessons in Curieuse Island is a guided surfing programme on the island's northern reef breaks, located off the coast of Praslin in the Seychelles. The lessons operate from the sheltered bay near the ranger station, where consistent swells arrive between May and September. Instruction covers paddle technique, wave reading, and board control for both beginners and intermediate surfers.

What to expect

Each session lasts 2 hours, including a 20-minute land-based safety briefing and warm-up before entering the water.
A soft-top foam board, leash, and reef-safe zinc sunscreen are provided; wetsuits are optional and available on request.
You will paddle out to a shallow sandbar break that forms only at low tide, with waves averaging 0.5 to 1.5 metres in height.
The lesson includes a video review of your take-off and pop-up technique, played back on a waterproof camera after the session.
Suitable for first-time surfers aged 8 and above, as well as experienced riders wanting to learn the local reef layout.
A certified instructor accompanies you in the water at a ratio of one instructor per four students, with a rescue board on standby.
