Diving & Snorkeling in Palmarola is a guided boat excursion from Ponza to the cliffs and coves of Palmarola island. The trip includes two separate water sessions with masks, fins, and snorkels provided, plus a light lunch on board. Palmarola's volcanic rock formations and clear Tyrrhenian waters host grouper, damselfish, and occasional octopus near the shallows.
What to expect
- Trip duration is 5 hours, with 2 hours total in the water split between two snorkeling stops and one optional scuba dive for certified divers.
- All snorkeling gear (mask, snorkel, fins) and a wetsuit for cooler months are included in the price, with a dry bag for personal items.
- The first stop is at the Cala del Porto cove, where the sandy bottom slopes to 8 metres and shoals of salema fish gather around the rocks.
- The second stop is at the Grotta del Turco sea cave, where you swim 20 metres inside to see the blue light reflection on the cave ceiling.
- Lunch is served on board: a focaccia sandwich with local mozzarella, tomato, and basil, plus water or a soft drink.
- Suitable for confident swimmers aged 8 and above; non-divers can stay on the boat while the dive group descends to a maximum depth of 18 metres.
