Festivals in Puerto Naos is a year-round programme of local fiestas held in the coastal village of Puerto Naos on La Palma’s western shore. These celebrations combine religious processions, live music, and traditional Canarian food stalls along the seafront promenade. Each festival reflects the island’s agricultural and maritime heritage, with dates tied to patron saints and seasonal harvests.
What to expect
- Attend the Fiestas de San Antonio in June, featuring a maritime procession of decorated fishing boats and a firework display over the black-sand beach.
- Watch folk groups perform the Isa and Tajaraste dances in the main square, with live timple and guitar accompaniment from 9pm to midnight.
- Sample local dishes at the food stalls, including potaje de berros (watercress stew), almogrote, and freshly grilled sardines, priced at 3 to 6 euros per plate.
- Join the evening 'verbena' dance on the promenade, a free open-air event with a live band playing until 2am, suitable for all ages.
- Visit the craft market held on the first Sunday of each festival, where 20 local artisans sell palm-leaf baskets, honey, and almond-based sweets.
- For families, the children’s workshop runs from 5pm to 7pm, offering face painting and traditional toy-making using volcanic stone and wood.
