Festivals in Los Llanos de Aridane is the annual cycle of patron saint fiestas and cultural celebrations held in the municipality of Los Llanos de Aridane on the island of La Palma. The events include processions, live music, traditional Canarian wrestling, and street fairs that take place across the town’s plazas and historic streets. Each festival honours a local saint or seasonal tradition, drawing residents and visitors into the island’s communal calendar.
What to expect
- The Fiestas de Nuestra Señora de los Remedios in September feature a multi-day programme with a solemn procession of the patron saint through the town centre.
- Evening concerts and verbena dances are held in Plaza de España, with local bands playing until late, and seating is available on the plaza terraces.
- Traditional Canarian wrestling (lucha canaria) exhibitions occur in the municipal arena, with matches between island teams and audience participation in the cheering sections.
- Street markets and food stalls sell local products such as almogrote, gofio, and roasted almonds during the main festival days.
- Fireworks displays launch from the Mirador de la Concepción on the final night, visible from the town’s lower streets and the church square.
