Surf Lessons in Barano is a guided surfing programme on the black-sand beaches of Barano, Ischia. Certified instructors teach wave-riding fundamentals in small groups, with all equipment provided. Sessions run daily from May to October, tailored to each participant's skill level.
What to expect
- Two-hour lessons for beginners and intermediate surfers, with a maximum of six participants per instructor.
- Includes wetsuit, soft-top surfboard, and leash; rash guards are available for hire.
- Starts with a 20-minute land-based safety and paddle technique briefing before entering the water.
- Practice in the gentle breaks of Spiaggia dei Maronti, where waves average 0.5 to 1.5 metres.
- Suitable for ages 10 and up; non-swimmers can join with a flotation vest and close supervision.
- Ends with a video review of your session, highlighting paddle timing and pop-up form.
