Surf Lessons in Tarajalejo are beginner-focused surf courses held on the black-sand beach of Tarajalejo, on Fuerteventura's south-east coast. The lessons take place in the sheltered bay, where gentle waves and a sandy bottom create safe conditions for first-time surfers. Each session is led by certified instructors who provide all necessary equipment and shore-based safety briefings.
What to expect
- Two-hour group or private sessions run daily at low tide, with a maximum of 8 students per instructor
- Includes a 5mm wetsuit, soft-top surfboard, and reef-safe sunscreen, all fitted on-site
- Start with a 20-minute dry-land technique drill covering pop-up stance and paddle positioning before entering the water
- Practise catching white-water waves in waist-deep water, with instructors giving individual feedback after each ride
- Suitable for ages 8 and up, with non-swimmers allowed if they wear a provided buoyancy aid
- End with a video review of your session, showing your pop-up timing and wave selection for self-correction
