Surf Lessons in Siargao is a guided surfing programme based at Cloud 9 beach on Siargao Island. It pairs beginners and intermediate surfers with certified local instructors who teach paddling, wave reading, and pop-up techniques in the island's reef breaks. Lessons include a board, rash vest, and safety briefing, with sessions timed to the tide for optimal conditions.
What to expect
- Two-hour lesson formats are available as single sessions or five-day packages, with each session split between 30 minutes of dry-land instruction and 90 minutes in the water.
- Rental equipment is included: a soft-top foam board suited to your weight and skill level, plus a rash vest and reef-safe sunscreen.
- You will practise on Cloud 9's gentle inside waves or the nearby Jacking Horse break, depending on your ability and the day's swell direction.
- Instructors provide real-time feedback via hand signals and in-water guidance, and they film a short video of your last ride for review on land.
- Suitable for first-timers aged 8 and up, as well as surfers who can already stand but want to improve turning and wave selection.
- Lessons start at the Siargao Surf School hut on Tourism Road, with a mandatory pre-surf safety talk covering reef etiquette and rip current awareness.
