Surf Lessons in Jandía is a beginner-focused surf school located on the southern coast of Fuerteventura, at Playa del Matorral. The lessons combine theory on sand with practical sessions in the water, using soft-top boards and wetsuits. The school operates daily from its beachfront kiosk, with sessions timed to the tide.
What to expect
- Two-hour group lesson includes a 30-minute land briefing on wave reading and paddle technique before entering the water.
- All equipment provided: soft-top surfboard, wetsuit, and booties, sized for adults and children aged 8 and up.
- Maximum ratio of 6 students per instructor, with certified local surfers who know the Jandía sandbank breaks.
- Sessions run at 10:00 and 14:00, with a 20-minute safety walk to the teaching break at the south end of the beach.
- After the lesson, you receive a photo link to download action shots of your ride attempts.
- Suits complete beginners and those with one or two previous lessons; no swimming test required, but you must be comfortable in water over your head.
