Surf Lessons in Gran Tarajal is a structured surf school programme on the black-sand beach of Gran Tarajal, Fuerteventura. The lessons operate in small groups with certified instructors and use soft-top boards suited to beginners. Each session focuses on wave reading, paddling technique, and standing up on the board in the gentle Atlantic break.
What to expect
- Two-hour lesson format with 30 minutes of dry-land instruction and 90 minutes in the water
- All equipment included: surfboard, wetsuit, and leash sized to your height and weight
- Instructors provide individual feedback while you practice catching white-water waves
- Suitable for first-time surfers and those who have tried once or twice, with a maximum of 6 students per instructor
- Lessons start at the designated meeting point next to the Gran Tarajal lifeguard tower
- You will leave with a basic understanding of surf etiquette and how to paddle out through the surf line
