Diving & Snorkeling in Karystos is a guided underwater activity based in the coastal town of Karystos on the southern tip of Evia, near Aegina. Participants explore rocky reefs, seagrass meadows, and small caves in the clear Aegean waters. The activity operates daily from May to October, with sessions lasting two to three hours including equipment and a certified instructor.
What to expect
- Sessions last 2.5 hours, including a 20-minute boat transfer to dive sites such as the Petalioi islets or the Cape Kafireas drop-off.
- All necessary gear (mask, fins, wetsuit, regulator, and buoyancy control device) is provided, with sizes for adults and children over 10 years.
- Snorkelers stay at depths of 2-4 metres over Posidonia seagrass beds, where juvenile damselfish and pipefish shelter.
- Divers descend to a maximum of 18 metres along a granite wall covered with red gorgonian corals and occasional moray eels.
- The package includes a pre-dive briefing on local currents and marine life, plus a post-dive snack of fresh fruit and water.
- Suits beginners with a shallow-water practice session, and certified divers can request a guided wreck dive on the 1950s freighter 'Aegean Star' at 14 metres.
