About this experience

Spa & Massage in Pulau Rubiah is a beachfront wellness service on the island of Pulau Rubiah, part of Weh (Sabang) in Aceh, Indonesia. Treatments are conducted in open-air pavilions overlooking the Andaman Sea, using local coconut oil and traditional Acehnese massage techniques. Sessions typically last 60 or 90 minutes and are available daily from 09:00 to 18:00, with bookings made on-site at the spa hut near the jetty.

What to expect

A 60-minute full-body massage using warm coconut oil costs 150,000 IDR (about USD 10), with a 90-minute deep-tissue option at 200,000 IDR.
Each session includes a foot wash with seawater and a brief herbal tea service before the massage begins.
The massage table faces the open sea, and you can hear waves breaking on the coral reef 20 metres from the pavilion.
Therapists are trained in Acehnese 'urut' techniques, focusing on pressure points along the back, shoulders, and legs.
Suitable for adults of all fitness levels; pregnant women are advised to request the lighter-pressure option at booking.
After the massage, you may use the spa's freshwater shower and changing room, located behind the main reception desk.
