Diving & Snorkeling in Dodong is a guided underwater excursion based at Dodong Harbour on Ulleungdo’s east coast. The activity provides access to volcanic rock reefs, kelp forests, and clear coastal waters where divers observe sea anemones, octopus, and black rockfish. Sessions run from the harbour jetty, with equipment and boat transfer to nearby dive sites included.

What to expect

Guided boat trip from Dodong Harbour to dive sites within 10 minutes, with total activity time of 2 to 3 hours including briefing and gear setup.
Full scuba gear (BCD, regulator, wetsuit, weights, tank) and snorkel mask, fins, and snorkel are provided; wetsuit thickness is 5mm for water temperatures of 12-18°C.
Underwater terrain features basalt columns, overhangs, and a sandy bottom at depths of 5 to 18 metres, with visibility typically 8-15 metres in summer.
Sightings include Japanese sea bass, rockfish, sea urchins, and occasional octopus hiding in crevices; kelp beds anchor the reef ecosystem.
Suitable for certified divers (Open Water or higher) and confident snorkellers; non-divers can snorkel in the sheltered harbour shallows with a guide.
A surface interval with hot tea and a snack is provided on the boat between two dives, and underwater photos are taken by the guide and shared after the trip.
