Campsites in Nari Basin are a designated tent camping area within the volcanic crater basin of Ulleungdo, South Korea. The site sits at 400 metres above sea level, surrounded by the basin’s cultivated fields and forested slopes. Campers use this base to access the basin’s walking trails and the nearby Nari Village.
What to expect
- Pitch your tent on flat, grassy ground within the basin, with space for roughly 30 tents and no assigned plots.
- Each pitch includes access to a shared toilet block and cold-water tap; no electric hookups or showers are provided.
- The campsite is a 10-minute walk from Nari Village's small grocery and the basin's two main trailheads (to Seonginbong and Albong).
- Expect temperatures 5–8°C cooler than Ulleungdo's coast at night, so bring a 3-season sleeping bag and a windproof tent.
- Open from late April to early November; during peak summer, arrive before 14:00 to secure a spot, as the site fills with Korean campers.
- Suits self-sufficient campers who prefer quiet, rural surroundings over seaside views; no campfires or charcoal grills are allowed on site.
