Tere
About
Tere, on Tenerife, is a hairdresser that works from C. Álvaro Martín Díaz, 42, 38320 La Laguna, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, in the island's old university city. La Laguna sits inland in the north of Tenerife, within reach of Santa Cruz, Puerto de la Cruz, El Médano and Los Gigantes.
First-time visitors can expect a hairdresser's appointment rather than a walk-in service, so booking ahead makes the visit straightforward. The 4.8 out of 5 average across 95 reviews places Tere among the better-reviewed hairdressers on the island, and that score comes from a steady local clientele rather than passing visitors. The website at http://www.terefotoestudio.com/ carries the salon's own information for anyone arranging a visit.
Reaching La Laguna from the main resorts is simple: Costa Adeje, Playa de las Américas and Los Cristianos lie within a short drive of the northern towns, and Santa Cruz sits just beyond. The island's roads connect the northern and southern halves quickly, which makes a La Laguna appointment feasible from most bases.
Spanish is the main language on Tenerife, spoken with a distinctive Canarian accent and vocabulary, so a few words of Spanish help in a salon setting. Gofio, a toasted grain flour, appears in island breads, stews and desserts, and trying it is an easy introduction to local cooking. Trade winds known as the alisios keep temperatures moderate through the year, and Saharan dust sometimes arrives in a calima.
