Surf Lessons in Sicily is a guided surfing programme based on the island's southern and western coasts, where consistent Mediterranean swells meet sandy and rocky breaks. The lessons are run by certified instructors who tailor each session to the group's skill level, from first-time paddlers to intermediate surfers seeking wave-reading techniques. Equipment, including boards and wetsuits, is provided, and sessions take place at beaches selected for current conditions.
What to expect
- Each lesson runs for 2 hours, including a 20-minute land-based warm-up and technique briefing before entering the water.
- All sessions include a soft-top surfboard, a 3/2mm wetsuit, and leash, with sizes available for adults and children aged 8 and above.
- You will practise paddling, pop-up, and turning on gentle reform waves at spots like San Vito Lo Capo or Mondello, depending on swell direction.
- Instructors provide individual feedback via video replay on a tablet during the post-session debrief, showing your take-off and stance.
- Suitable for complete beginners and improvers; no prior swimming certification is required, but you must be comfortable in chest-deep water.
- Group sizes are capped at 6 students per instructor, ensuring each participant gets at least 10 guided wave attempts per session.
