Surf Lessons in Kampung Kapas is a guided surfing programme on the sandy beach of Kampung Kapas, Kapas Island. The lessons are led by local instructors who know the island's wave patterns. Participants learn basic paddling, standing, and wave-catching techniques in the clear, warm water.
What to expect
- Each lesson lasts 90 minutes, including a 15-minute shore-based briefing on safety and board handling.
- A soft-top surfboard and rash vest are provided for every participant.
- You practise in waist-deep water on gentle, rolling waves that suit first-timers.
- The lesson covers how to read wave direction, paddle out, and pop up on the board.
- Suitable for ages 8 and up; non-swimmers can join with a flotation belt.
- After the lesson, you get 30 minutes of free practice time with the instructor nearby.
