Restaurants & Dining in Gran Tarajal is a curated guide to the seafront eateries and local taverns in the fishing town of Gran Tarajal, on Fuerteventura's eastern coast. The dining scene centres on fresh catch, including vieja and cherne, served in casual terraces along Avenida Paco Hierro. Menus also feature Canarian papas arrugadas, goat cheese, and local wines from the island's bodegas.
What to expect
- Sample grilled parrotfish or octopus at a beachfront chiringuito within 50 metres of the Playa de Gran Tarajal sand.
- Watch the daily fish auction at the nearby Puerto de Gran Tarajal before ordering the catch of the day at a local marisquería.
- Try a full Canarian meal with papas arrugadas, mojo rojo, and a glass of volcanic Malvasía wine for under 20 euros per person.
- Dine at a family-run guachinche-style spot in the town's back streets, where the menu changes with the morning's catch.
- Enjoy a slow lunch from 13:00 to 16:00, the standard local dining window, with most terraces offering shade and sea views.
- Find vegetarian options at two dedicated vegan-friendly cafés near the main square, serving lentil stews and chickpea salads.
