About this experience

What to expect

• Meals at most tavernas are served family-style, with shared plates of goat stew (kapama), chickpea soup (revithada), and fried zucchini balls (kolokythokeftedes) priced at 8-15 euros per dish.
• Several kafeneia on the main square serve Greek coffee and raki from 07:00, with a view of the 19th-century Church of Agios Nikolaos.
• At least three tavernas offer a fixed-price 'meze set' (25 euros per person) that includes 8 small dishes, local wine, and dessert, requiring no advance booking for groups under six.
• Diners can watch the preparation of sourdough bread and cheese pies (kaltsounia) in the wood-fired oven visible from the dining room at the two oldest establishments, dating to 1920 and 1935.
• The village's single fish taverna, located 200 metres from the main square, receives its catch at 18:00 daily and lists the day's species on a chalkboard, with grilled sardines and octopus as standard options.
• Outdoor seating is on terraces shaded by grapevines or mulberry trees, with most tables accommodating 2-6 people; high chairs are available at four venues, and no dress code applies.
