Sri Lanka has a tropical climate, with the southwest coast driest roughly December-March and the east coast best roughly May-September, so Colombo visits are often planned around that southwest window. Meals on the island are spice-driven, built around rice and curry, fresh seafood and tropical fruit, which shapes most days around a match or training session. International flights serve the island, with domestic transport by road and rail, making Colombo a straightforward base. Sinhala and Tamil are the main languages, with English widely used, which eases navigation for visitors.
