Supermarkets & Groceries in Sardinia

About this experience

What to expect

• Visit a mix of national chains like Conad, Eurospin, and Lidl, plus local independent shops, with typical opening hours from 8:30 to 20:00, Monday to Saturday.
• Find Sardinian specialities such as pecorino cheese, pane carasau, bottarga, and local olive oil on dedicated regional shelves, often at lower prices than tourist shops.
• Expect self-service checkout and bagging areas, with plastic bags costing around 0.10-0.20 euros each, so bring reusable bags.
• Purchase fresh bread, pastries, and deli meats from in-store counters, where staff slice to order; most stores close for a midday break from 13:00 to 16:00.
• Suitable for self-catering travellers and families, as stores stock baby food, nappies, and household cleaning products alongside groceries.
• Check the receipt for a 'scontrino' (proof of purchase), which is required for any product returns or warranty claims, and keep it until you leave the store.
