About this experience

Horseback Riding in Sardinia is a guided trail-riding activity set in the island's interior, combining maquis-covered hills, cork oak forests, and ancient shepherd tracks. Rides operate from small family-run stables near villages like Oliena or Bitti, with routes adjusted to rider skill. The activity provides direct access to rural landscapes that are otherwise difficult to reach on foot.

What to expect

Rides last between 2 and 5 hours, with morning and sunset departures available
Each tour includes a trained Sardinian horse, helmet, and a bilingual guide (Italian and English)
Routes cross granite peaks, juniper groves, and abandoned sheepfolds, with frequent stops for water and photos
Suitable for beginners and intermediate riders; children over 10 can ride on lead-line ponies
Small groups are capped at 8 riders, ensuring individual pacing and safety briefings before departure
During spring, trails pass flowering asphodel meadows and wild boar tracks; autumn rides follow chestnut harvest routes
