Diving & Snorkeling in Sardinia is a guided underwater activity along the island's limestone cliffs and granite reefs. It operates from certified centres in Cala Gonone, Alghero, and Villasimius, with boat access to marine reserves. The clear Tyrrhenian and Sardinian seas offer visibility up to 30 metres and water temperatures from 14°C in spring to 26°C in late summer.
What to expect
- Sessions last 2.5 to 3 hours including a 40-minute dive or 60-minute snorkel, with all weights, tanks, and masks supplied.
- Dive sites include the Nereo Cave (a flooded karst cavern at 18 metres) and the wreck of the SS Roma, a 1926 cargo ship resting at 32 metres.
- Snorkellers stay in shallow Posidonia seagrass meadows near the shore, where juvenile damselfish and octopus are common.
- Guided boat transfers to the La Maddalena Archipelago and Tavolara Marine Protected Area are included, with a maximum of 8 divers per group.
- Suitable for certified divers (Open Water or above) and first-time snorkellers aged 8 and up; a medical self-declaration form is required for diving.
