Diving & Snorkeling in Perhentian Kecil is a guided water-sports activity based on the smaller of the two Perhentian Islands, off Malaysia's northeast coast. The island's coral reefs and clear waters support diverse marine life, including sea turtles, blacktip reef sharks, and colourful reef fish. Operators offer daily boat trips to sites such as Shark Point, Sugar Wreck, and Tiga Ruang.
What to expect
- Typical trips last 3-4 hours, with two guided dives or two snorkel stops at different reef sites.
- All snorkeling and diving gear, including mask, fins, buoyancy control device, and regulator, is provided by the operator.
- You will see sea turtles, blacktip reef sharks, clownfish, parrotfish, and hard and soft corals at depths from 3 to 18 metres.
- Diving sessions are led by PADI-certified instructors, and introductory dives are available for beginners with no prior certification.
- Snorkeling groups stay at the surface with a guide, while divers descend in small groups of no more than four per instructor.
- The activity suits confident swimmers and certified divers, as well as first-time divers aged 12 and above.
