Ponce is one of the island's principal cities, and the Carr Puerto Rico 2 corridor connects it with Peñuelas and the surrounding municipalities. Reaching the venue from San Juan or Carolina means a drive south across the island, while Bayamón and the northern towns lie further along the same highway network.
The Caribbean dry season runs roughly from December to May, when rainfall is lower and trade winds steady, making those months pleasant for a drive down to the southern coast.
