Campsites in Palmarola are a network of designated tent pitches on the wild, cliff-backed western shore of Palmarola, an uninhabited island off Ponza. These sites offer a base for self-sufficient campers arriving by boat, with direct access to the island's white-sand coves and clear Tyrrhenian water. The pitches operate from June to September and require visitors to bring all supplies, as no shops or services exist on the island.
What to expect
- Pitches are located within a 10-minute walk of the main landing jetty, with space for up to 20 tents per site.
- Each pitch includes a flat sandy area for a 2-person tent and a shared fire ring for cooking, but no water or electricity is provided.
- Campers must carry in their own drinking water, food, and fuel, as the island has no permanent residents or vendors.
- The sites sit 50 metres from the sea, giving direct access to the Cala dei Santi and Cala del Porto coves for swimming and snorkelling.
- A ranger visits each site daily at 8am and 6pm to collect the €5 per person nightly fee and check permits.
- This setup suits experienced campers with their own boat or a booked water-taxi from Ponza, as no scheduled ferry serves Palmarola.
