Phuket Palace
About
On Phuket, Phuket Palace stands at 4, 169 Sirirat Rd, Pa Tong, Kathu District, Phuket 83150, in the heart of the island's best-known beach resort. It is known for its position just back from the Patong seafront, putting the beach, shops and nightlife within walking distance. A 3.9 out of 5 average from 87 reviews gives a fair picture of what previous guests have found.
First-time visitors should expect a busy, built-up setting rather than a quiet retreat, with traffic and noise part of the package in Patong. Thai food balances sweet, sour, salty and spicy flavours, with dishes such as tom yum, green curry and pad thai, and there is no shortage of places to eat nearby. Songthaew pickup trucks and motorbike taxis are common forms of local transport in Thailand, which helps for trips further afield.
Patong connects by road to Karon, Kata, Kamala, Bang Tao and Chalong, though the main routes slow considerably at peak times. Thai islands have a tropical climate with high humidity and warm temperatures all year, and Thailand's southwest monsoon brings rain from around May to October, followed by a drier, cooler period.
The northern beaches and the southern capes are all reachable in a single day from this base.
