Artisan Markets in Magazia is a weekly open-air market held in the central square of Magazia village on Paxos island. It showcases local crafts, handmade ceramics, woven textiles, and produce from nearby farms, operating from late morning to early evening on Saturdays from June to September. The market offers direct interaction with the makers, who explain their techniques and the materials sourced from Paxos and Corfu.
What to expect
- Runs every Saturday from 10:00 to 18:00 during the summer season, with about 15 stalls set up around the square.
- Includes live demonstrations of pottery throwing and loom weaving, with visitors able to try a short session under the artisan's guidance.
- Stallholders sell olive wood utensils, sea-glass jewellery, and local honey, all priced between 5 and 40 euros.
- A small food section offers freshly baked olive bread, local cheese, and cold-pressed olive oil for tasting and purchase.
- Suits travellers interested in Greek island craftsmanship and slow shopping, with no entrance fee and wheelchair-accessible paths.
