Festivals in Naoussa is a summer programme of cultural events held in the old fishing harbour of Naoussa, Paros. It features live Greek music, traditional dance performances, and local food stalls organised by the municipality and village associations. The festival runs from mid-June to early September, with most events starting at 9pm in the harbour square.
What to expect
- Evening concerts of Greek folk and rebetiko music performed on a wooden stage by the waterfront, lasting 2 to 3 hours
- Traditional Parian dance troupes in regional costumes performing syrtos and kalamatianos dances on the harbour cobblestones
- Local women's cooperative selling homemade spoon sweets, raki, and oven-baked lamb in foil parcels at temporary wooden kiosks
- A nightly procession of decorated fishing caiques carrying lanterns through the harbour channel, followed by a firework display on the main festival night (14 August)
- Open-air film screenings of classic Greek cinema on a whitewashed wall behind the Venetian castle ruins, with seating on stacked fish crates
- Suitable for families and older travellers, as events are low-volume, wheelchair-accessible along the flat promenade, and free to attend without tickets
