Surf Lessons in Teluk Nipah is a beginner-focused surf school located on the main beach of Teluk Nipah, Pangkor Island. The lessons are conducted by local instructors who have surfed these waters for over a decade. Each session takes place in the gentle, waist-deep waves near the northern end of the beach, where the sandy bottom reduces injury risk.

What to expect

Each lesson lasts 90 minutes, including 20 minutes of land-based paddle and pop-up drills before entering the water.
A soft-top foam surfboard and a rash guard are included in the lesson fee, with wetsuits available for the monsoon season (October to January).
You will practice catching unbroken waves on a 7-foot board, with the instructor physically guiding your first three take-offs.
The lesson covers rip current identification and how to paddle out through the shore break, using the two permanent rock markers at the beach's south end.
Suitable for first-timers aged 8 and above; children under 12 receive a shorter 60-minute session with a separate shallow-water zone.
Group size is capped at six students per instructor, and each participant receives a printed card with the day's wave and tide times.
