Island travel in the Philippines relies on ferries, roll-on roll-off boats and domestic flights, so building in transfer time between Palawan's towns pays off. Filipino meals centre on rice, with adobo, sinigang and lechon commonly served, and the island's waters hold whale sharks, dugongs and sea turtles while its forests shelter the endemic tarsier. Hilside Resort Inn works as a Puerto Princesa base for a Palawan itinerary that reaches beyond the capital.
