Grooves Toys

About

Found on Orkney, Grooves Toys occupies 17 Albert St, Kirkwall KW15 1HP, United Kingdom, placing it in the islands' main town on the Orkney mainland. Kirkwall is the hub from which most visitors reach the rest of the archipelago, with Stromness, Finstown and St Margaret's Hope all within striking distance by road.

That address puts the shop in the heart of Kirkwall, a short walk from the harbour where ferries arrive. Travellers based in Stromness, Finstown or St Margaret's Hope can reach it easily, and day trips from Hoy, South Ronaldsay or Westray are feasible with a little planning around the inter-island ferries. A 5 out of 5 average from 6 reviews marks it out as a small but well-regarded stop for toys in the town.

Visitors planning a trip can turn up during normal shopping hours, and the shop sits among the town's other retail premises. Kirkwall's compact centre means the surrounding streets, harbour and bus links are all close at hand.

Orkney's standing stones, brochs and early Christian chapels draw travellers across the islands, and many make Kirkwall their base for exploring them. Island life here revolves around the harbours, with regattas and summer fetes adding to the calendar. Grey seals breed around the coasts and basking sharks occasionally surface in summer, giving boat trips an added draw. English is spoken throughout, so getting around and asking directions is straightforward.
