YMCA of Honolulu
About
Found on Oahu, YMCA of Honolulu - Kalihi Branch sits at 1335 Kalihi St, Honolulu, HI 96819, United States. That puts it in the Kalihi district, a short run west of downtown Honolulu and within easy driving distance of Waikiki and the other main visitor areas on the island.
Kalihi occupies the urban south shore of Oahu, so reaching it from Waikiki, Kailua or Pearl Harbor means one straightforward drive rather than a cross-island trek. The branch draws a 4.3 out of 5 average across 30 reviews, a score that reflects steady local use rather than a tourist crowd. It appears in the same south-shore corridor as Honolulu itself, and Oahu's road network keeps it connected to the rest of the island.
Sessions and programmes at the branch run under the YMCA of Honolulu umbrella, and the location's own page is at https://www.ymcahonolulu.org/locations/kalihi-y.
Oahu's windward and leeward coasts split the island's weather, with the wetter conditions falling on the windward side and drier skies on the leeward side where Honolulu sits. Hula, oli chants and the voyaging traditions of Polynesian navigators remain part of Hawaiian culture across the islands. Since no road or regular ferry joins the Hawaiian islands, travel between them is by air, though Oahu itself needs only a car or bus.
