Every island in the Maldives is low and flat, with no hills or rivers, and most sit only a metre or two above the sea. Alcohol is not sold on inhabited local islands and is served only on resort islands, so visitors staying on a local island plan around that. Manta rays and whale sharks gather in Hanifaru Bay in Baa Atoll during the southwest monsoon, a seasonal draw for divers. Villingili, Thilafushi, Giraavaru, Kuda Huraa and Ihuru lie within the same atoll group.
