The business is known for cabinetmaking and furniture work, with a website at https://lloydbrookefurniture.co.nz/. New Zealand sits on the boundary of the Pacific and Australian tectonic plates, so small earthquakes are common.
First-time visitors should expect a working workshop rather than a showroom, with projects in progress. Kerikeri sits well north of Auckland, so the trip by road takes a few hours. English is the main language and te reo Māori is also official, so Māori place names appear throughout the country.
New Zealand weather is changeable, and the surrounding ocean keeps both summer heat and winter frost moderate, so a light layer helps at any time of year. Māori culture is central to national life, with marae, haka and the Treaty of Waitangi signed in 1840.
